So Far, So Good

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but this pregnancy is so different than my first.  It's weird.  You don't have kids, and you are clueless as to what to expect.  You have one baby and you think you know what to expect the next time around...WRONG!  It really is weird how one pregnancy might be super easy, then the next you are sick and feel like poop all the time.  hehe  I will say that I think emotionally this time around I am much better but that just may be due to it not being as scary as it was the first time.

Anyway, today I woke up feeling pretty good!  YEA!  No throwing up yet and no seriously nauseous  moments.  WooWho!  I even exercised for 30 minutes today!  I haven't felt good enough to do that in a few weeks!  That is definitely a step in the right direction!  I am ready for our next doctor's appointment and can't wait to see the baby again.

I really need to start seriously thinking about names...

The Big Announcement!

This weekend we had a cookout with both of our parents and shared our BIG news!  I had ordered a cute shirt for Hudson a while back.  The front said "I have a secret" and the back said "I'm going to be a BIG BROTHER"!  So, right before everyone got to our house I changed Hudson then paraded him around so people would see his exciting news....

Only NO ONE DID!  haha Everyone was busy talking and playing with Hudson!  No one noticed!  I eventually said "Wow, I can't believe no one has said anything about Hudson's shirt...".  Then people got it!  My mom cried and there were lots of Hugs!  Hudson got to show off "his baby" (ultrasound picture).  It was a great visit.

I called my sister today and told her over the phone.  She is living in California right now, so she couldn't be there this weekend.  I also sent her some videos and pictures from this weekend.  She was so excited and there were tears.  Jessica is such a good Aunt to Hudson, I just know she will be great to baby2.  :)

Life is sooo good!

Precious Moments

So, I am 100% obsessed with Hudson.  Knowing that in a few short months he will no longer be an only child has intensified this obsession exponentially.  I love his sweet voice and how he says " It's OK Mama"  when he does something that he knows he shouldn't or when I seem upset or drop something.  He is the most compassionate almost two year old that ever walked the earth.

I love how Hudson hands me different items when he is finished with whatever it might be he was playing with and hands them to me saying "Here ya go mama" or "Here ya go Ma".  I especially love it when its chewed up, spit on, squished food he is done with... hehe

I love how smart Hudson is.  NO REALLY, THIS KID IS SMART!  He knows his shapes (heart, star, circle, square, rectangle, triangle, and oval).  He also knows colors, some numbers, and most of the letters.

I printed off a picture of our first ultrasound of baby 2 and tried to get Hudson to take a picture holding it... It didn't go over well, but that's beside the point.  I left the picture of the baby in Hudson's room (because he liked it) and every time he sees it he yells "look, a baby" and runs over to it pointing saying "baby" then waves and says "hello baby"!It is seriously one of the first things he does every morning when he wakes up and after every nap.  Bless his sweet little heart.

Hudson's laugh is contagious and his cry makes me cry.  He is all boy and has the bumps and bruises to prove it.  But, he is also extremely sensitive and loving.  My heart overflows with joy every time he comes and sits in my lap without me asking.  I also melt whenever that little head gets right in my face and says "hello mama" with a big grin!

I am a far from perfect mother.  Yes, I let Hudson watch TV and play games on my phone and let him eat way to much processed food and cater to his ever whim...  But somehow he is turning out to be this amazing ,smart, loving and sweet little boy who listens most of the time!  :)  I really can't take credit for this beautiful child.  God blessed us with sweet yet wild spirited little boy.  I could literally write for days about all of Hudson's cute traits or sayings, but I hope to at least get some down so that I will always remember this precious time together just the two of us.

Ideally all of these posts (I am turning into books) will be given to my children.  Maybe when they graduate High School, or when they leave for collage, or on their wedding day... I don't know.  But I hope that they are able to read through all my thoughts and laugh at how crazy life can be but also how wonderful it is.  But most importantly I hope they realize how much they are loved.  It is an unshakeable, unbreakable, never ending love.  No matter what.  FOREVER

I am so thankful for Steve and for Hudson, and for this baby that is about to come into our lives and make our family complete.  Sometimes I can't believe how lucky I am to have my amazing family, great friends, a beautiful home, safe neighborhood and sweet pets.  I literally have to pinch myself.

Baby 2: First Prenatal Visit

Today I had my 8 week appointment and ultrasound!  Steve came with me.  I'm glad he was there. The appointment lasted three hours!  CRAZY

We had the ultrasound appointment first.  It was just as amazing as I remembered it being with Hudson.  When the ultrasound tech got our baby's picture up on the screen, all these emotions FINALLY surfaced and I couldn't hold back the tears.  According to my calculations we are 8 weeks along, but according the the ultrasound we are at 9 weeks!  AHH that means we got pregnant the month before we thought we did!  I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to hear the baby's heartbeat, but the ultrasound tech was able to measure it some how and our baby had a healthy heartbeat of 170bpm!

After that we met with at doctor and just went over our health history, and what to expect throughout this pregnancy.

Finally, lastly I had blood work done.

Shooo I was exhausted by the end of it all!

This time around the "morning" sickness has been A LOT worse!  It is crazy!  With Hudson I only remember getting sick once.  This time is a completely different story.  It was nice getting some information from the doctor about things I could do/take to help with it.  She even wrote me a Rx, but I'm not sure I will use it.  I looked it up on-line and I just don't think at this point it's worth the risk.

I was starting to get really nauseous at the doctor's office.  On the drive home I just couldn't hold it in anymore!  I had to grab a random back and just started puking.  Poor Steve!  I don't know how he was able to deal with a heaving, gagging, vomiting wife in the seat next to him while he was trying to drive....  blah

We are so thankful that everything looks good so far.  It was amazing seeing our baby and we are getting excited to share the good news with family and friends soon.

Starting to make plans

Next Monday is our first doctor appointment for Baby Farmer #2!

I'm starting to get really excited.  I can't wait to see our baby and hear his/her heartbeat!

Steve really wants to tell our family about our exciting new addition at our cook out (on the 24th) but I have been back and forth....  I want to do it in a fun way and just couldn't come up with anything.  PLUS, I have really enjoyed having this big secret all to ourselves.  Is that bad?

THEN!!!!!  Today I was doing some research and came across customized fortune cookies and toddler shirts!  Ding Ding I think we have a winner!

Can't wait to see how this all comes together!

Hudson is 22 months old!

I can't believe that in just two short months, my little boy will be 2 years old!!!!

I am just completely blown away.  It doesn't seem possible.

Hudson,

You are such a joy.  You have the best personality and are so funny.  You are talking up a storm with real words and copy/repeat everything.  Just this afternoon we were going down to the basement and I was holding your hand.  Every step down you took, you said "step, step"!  You had the biggest grin on the whole way down the stairs.  It was adorable.

You are such an adorable little boy!  I thought you were the cutest thing I had ever seen when you were born, but somehow you keep getting more adorable?!?!?  You have a cute little figure (tall and lean) with blond hair I like to spike for you.  When you look up with those BIG BLUE EYES and smile that toothy grin, you have your daddy and me wrapped around your little finger!

You love Cheese!  It is a good bribing tool for us!  hehe  You also love juice (half water, half fruit juice).

It is crazy how much we love you.

At 22 Months:

  • Size 5 diaper
  • Size 24 month / 2T clothes
  • Size 6 1/2 shoe (got his first "nice" pair from grandma and grandpa smith last week)
  • Loves popcycles
  • "Reads" stories and loves to be read to
  • Can say the ABC's (repeating)
  • Can count to 3 perfectly and will repeat up to 10
  • "READY, SET, GO"
  • "I did it"  "I got it"
  • "No No Mama"
  • "I Want"
  • Hudson loves to play with balls, anything involving water, build with blocks, CARS, and basket ball or "Hoops" as he likes to call it.
  • Hudson sleeps from 7:30ish pm to 7am and still takes one long nap every afternoon.
  • Can name some body parts:
    • head
    • hair
    • ears
    • eyes
    • nose
    • mouth
    • chin
    • hands
    • toes
    • elbow
  • Still not excited about trying the potty.  He likes to flush the toilet or "pee pee" and throw toilet paper in it, but doesn't want to sit on it.
  • Hudson wakes up every morning happy and laughing.  THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY!
  • HUDSON STILL LOVES BANANAS or "NaNas"
  • He loves to say "Hello" to people and will even get right in your face (I'm talking inches away) and say it.  :)
  • Going down slides at the park is really fun, but throwing around dirt is even better!
  • Hudson can really communicate his wants, likes, and dislikes with us now.  It makes our job so much easier.  We aren't guessing anymore trying to figure out what he wants, he tells us!  "Water" "juice" "pacci"
I think it's pretty safe to say that we are just amazed by how much you have changed and developed!  It seems like just a month ago, you were mostly babbling, but now you are really talking.  We are so impressed with what you pick up on every day and couldn't be more excited for you.  We love you more than you will probably ever understand.  Slow down, don't grow up too fast!  We LOVE YOU!  xoxo
