Unexpected Morning

Today is Wednesday, so like usual Steve, Hudson and I all woke up and went our separate ways.  Steve went off to work and Hudson and I headed to church.  I have a women's bible study and Hudson gets to play in the nursery with the other kiddos!  He always loves it.  After bible study, Steve and I had planned to meet somewhere for lunch.  We never get the chance to have lunch together, but thought today it might be nice.  So, I called him as soon as we left the church to figure out where to meet.

Steve told me he was on his way to Midway, Kentucky for work but could meet us an hour later.  That sounded good to me.  Hudson had just been changed, fed, and was now fast asleep.  I thought it would be a good time to run an errand.  Hudson and I made our way to the mall (which with a baby is no small thing).  I got his stroller ready, reorganized his diaper bag, and off we rolled through the rain (Hudson was completely sheltered from the rain and covered with a blanket). We were headed to Bare Escentuals store because I was completely out of foundation.  Unless the world wants to see my scary naked face, I NEEDED that makeup!  haha

*****Side note, Bare Minerals is the BEST makeup on earth.  I have been using it since I was a freshmen in high school....so, about 11 years.  I LOVE IT!  It doesn't leave icky makeup lines, never gets cakey, and always looks natural.  It is also good for most if not all skin types.  AMAZING*******

Anyway, no sooner had I pushed the stroller in the door of the BE store than my phone started ringing.  It was Steve.  He was calling to tell me he was in a car accident.  My heart sunk.  The weather has been so bad today anyway....  ugh  Thankfully Steve and everyone one else involved was alright.  Our car on the other hand was not so lucky.  As I was driving out to Midway to pick Steve up, I passed the tow truck that was hauling our car away....

That poor car has been through so much in the 12 years we (our family) had it.  It was originally my dad's car, then when I was a senior in collage he gave the car to me.  When Steve's car died, I gave him the Honda so he had a dependable car for work.  I drove that car when I was first learning to drive and so did my sister.  It's mirror has been snapped off when my sister was backing out of my parents garage.  I scratched the hubcaps and threw it out of alignment when I curbed it in front of my high school, On my first day of Dental Hygiene school I rear ended an SUV in my neighborhood, and now it was involved in a three car pileup.  *We are really not bad drivers, I PROMISE!

Now, we are just waiting to hear back from the repair shop to see if they will be able to fix the Honda or if they will total it.  I can't say waiting is something I'm particularly good at.  Sadly, I'm a very impatient person.  Hopefully the damage looks worse than it actually is.  I am just so glad Steve is alright.  It is now 3:00pm and we have already had one of THOSE days.  The waiting game continues!

Dear God,

Thank you for protecting Steve and the other people involved in the car accident.  Thank you for looking out for us and keeping us safe.

Amen.

Back On Track

We're back!  Steve fixed my extremely slow computer and now it works great!  YEA!  We have been MIA for a while and a lot has happened.  I think today I'm just going to post a bunch of pictures of what has been going on in the Farmer House!  They are not in order...O-well!

Rice Cereal

Today, for the very first time, Hudson tried rice cereal! At Hudson's doctors appointment last week the doctor gave us the OK to start rice cereal anytime over the next few weeks. I have been too nervous to start feeding him cereal because I have no clue what I'm doing. Well, today the ladies covering the nursery at church (I was at bible study) mentioned that he was constantly acting hungry. They suggested I start giving him cereal and said it would help! I can't tell you how much I like the ladies that watch him Wednesday mornings! Anyway, on the way home we made a pit stop at Kroger and picked up some cereal, puréed vegetables, baby oragel, and some vitamin D drops. At his next feeding I mixed some milk with a little cereal (1tbsp) and tried to feed it to him with a spoon.... He wasn't too happy about that. We will try again maybe next week. I ended up mixing what I had made with 4oz of milk and put it in his bottle. He drank it right up! It seems to be keeping him full longer because it has been almost 4 hours and he isn't acting hungry yet! The past few days he has been eating every 2 hours! Victory!

First Tooth

Last night (2-13-12) we discovered Hudson's first tooth is starting to come in! It is his lower right incisor. I cried like a baby because he is growing up so fast and I am so in love with his toothless grin. Hudson was crying too, but for totally different reasons. Poor baby, his little mouth hurts so bad!

4 Months Old Today!

Hudson Michael Farmer!  How is it possible you are already 4 months old?  Where has the time gone?  At  months old you are:  trying to talk ALL THE TIME, sucking your thumb and your hand, sleeping all night long, teething, staying in the church nursery during church and mommy's bible study, regularly going to play dates, loving bath time, splashing in water, taking 2 naps a day, crying more when you are upset or want something, wanting to stand while we hold you up, laughing, copying facial expressions people make at you, and playing with your daddy and I.  It is crazy how much we love you!  You had your first babysitter (my mom and dad) this past weekend for a few hours and did great!  You go to bed every night around 10:00pm and don't wake up until at least 7:00am.  You still love getting your diaper changed and LOVE to be naked!  You make eye contact and follow/track people really well.  You started sitting in your highchair and bumbo.  So far this Winter, you have been as healthy as a horse.  I'm pretty impressed.  You have your next doctors appointment (4 month checkup) on Friday.  You will get shots, and you will cry....Steve (your daddy) will be coming with us for emotional support.

Enjoying bath time!  2-7-12

Snoozing with mommy!
You are a strong little baby and want to constantly push yourself up.  We sing the wheels on the bus with hand motions and you go nuts, laughing and smiling!  SO CUTE!  You are still bigger than all the other babies your age, but it is just because you are so long!  You have cute cheeks, but no fat rolls... it's not like you are over weight.  You are just a BIG baby.  I wouldn't have it any other way.  You are just so perfect!

You wear size 3 diapers already (I may have cried when you went up a size) and are in 6-9 month clothes.  As of now, I'm finding that footed pajamas seem to be the most comfortable thing for you to ware.  They are pretty easy for me too.  You are starting to enjoy being read to and like to play peek-a-boo.  You love watching TV especially sports.  You daddy is pretty excited about that.  He can't wait for you to be old enough to go to games with him and play outside. You are 25.5 inches long, 17 pounds 8.5 ounces and are the cutest little boy on earth!

Right after you woke up this morning.   2-7-12

You are still sleeping in our (mommy and daddy's room) in your pack n play.  I don't know how much longer you will be doing this though.  Your daddy keeps asking me when you will sleep in your own room, in your own crib....  I just love the convenience of having you right there next to me.  I also love waking up in the middle of the night and being able to hear you breathing.... It's a mom thing i guess.

Sucking your cute little thumb.

Hudson, you are a blessing in our lives and we couldn't imagine our life without you.  You have made our little family whole.  I am thankful for every day we get to spend together.  The past four months have been amazing, and I (we) look forward to all the future holds for you.  WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH HUDSON!

Love,

Mommy and Daddy
