Hudson's First Tooth

Months ago I thought my little baby was getting his first tooth (6 months ago to be exact)...  We could see it just under his bright pink gum tissue.  We were sure that his tooth would be poking though at any moment and our 4 month old baby would have chompers.  I was not ready then.  I actually cried.  But then weeks and months passed and that little tooth refused to make an appearance.  Instead it tortured my baby causing him pain, swollen gums, and restless nights.  All of Hudson's friends have gotten at least one tooth, but Hudson has been holding out!  Thankfully, his lower left incisor FINALLY broke through, and boy is it sharp.  Hudson hasn't been as cranky as he has been the past few days.  I think he finally has some relief YEA!!!!!

Here are some pictures of my little man feeding himself puffs today!  He has even started really chewing his food before he swallows it!  *sigh*   He melts my heart.

His daddy gives me this same distracted look...
There's my happy boy!
Thanks for the puffs container Ms. Katie and Mr. Jonathan!
I'm feeding myself today!

A Birthday Party

We are so fortunate to have such wonderful friends, who it just so happens also have babies!  haha  I don't know if we became close and then had babies, or if we all became close because of our babies, but either way, we feel truly blessed.  Well, today was a BIG day, or should I say a BIG, BIG, BIG day!  haha  Hudson's little girlfriends Meredith, Felicity-Ann, and Violet turned 1 year old today!  Their mommy and daddy invited all of their little friends over for a super fun party!  Of course we had a WONDERFUL time!

Violet, Meredith, & Felicity-Ann
Katie, the girls' mommy did an amazing job decorating for their party!  Everything looked so pretty!  I loved the purple, pink, and green balloons!  SO CUTE!

Here come the cupcakes!

Mommy (Katie)  and daddy (Jonathan) serving the girls.

It was so fun watching the girls eat cupcakes for the first time!  They loved them!  I ended up giving Hudson some ice cream at the party.  It was vanilla bean and, surprise surprise, he liked it.

Yummmm ice cream

More please!

And then, it was time to open presents!  It is always funny seeing babies and small children with new toys, even if they aren't for them.  Hudson didn't hold back he got right up in all the action and wanted to play with all the toys!  Thankfully the girls were all about sharing!  There were so many toys that they almost didn't know what to do with themselves.  They wanted to play with each and every one!

I'm being good, I promise

Needless to say, Hudson had a blast at his little friend's party.  It was his first ever party!  haha milestone?  I think so!  Because I messed with his schedule today (trying to time it right, but failing) Hudson ended up missing both his naps and by the time we got home, he was a bit of a mess.  Poor Huddy Buddy was exhausted.  He ended up going to bed super early.  Hopefully he sleeps well (all night long).  We will see.  What a wonderful day!

Baby Cage

Hudson is EVERYWHERE!  He is into EVERYTHING!  Yesterday, Hudson was playing and started climbing one of our tables.  Before I could reach him, his little hand slipped and he smacked his face on it, leaving him with a cut and a bruise under his eye...  After that, Steve and I finally broke down and got Hudson a playpen AKA Baby Cage!  haha It is the only way to keep this little stinker safe without holding him all day.  It has changed our lives and we have only had it for 24 hours.  We were very undecided about how we felt about them before we actually needed one.  For anyone out there that doesn't have children and thinks this is mean or inhumane... just wait!  haha  The best part is, he LOVES it!  He has enough room to crawl around, but he can't get into the fire place, get to the stairs, pull up on furniture, play with the electric outlets, or pull on our blinds.  It keeps our little man safe and sound!  AMAZING.  This may be the best $50 we have ever spent!  O and it's portable so we can take it outside or to my parents house.

August...Where has the time gone?

August has just flown by!  I blinked and we are getting ready to wrap up the month of August!  WHAT?!?!

This month has been full of fun!  We have had play dates, gone on walks, gone to the park, purchased a new car, Hudson started feeding himself cookies, and he has started standing all by himself.  I'm sure I am missing a lot, but those are the big highlights.

Swinging at the park
We have finally had a break in the heatwave!  Since it has been crazy nice out, we have really taken advantage of the cooler weather.  Hudson and I have been making trips to the park where he gets to swing!  I think he likes it, what do you think?

We have known for a while that  someday we were going to need a bigger vehicle to cart around a baby, a dog, and luggage.  The little Toyota Carolla just wasn't cutting it anymore.  A week or so ago we really started looking at our options and this is what we decided on.  A 2012 Toyota Sienna XLE minivan.  I'm not even going to try to deny it.  I LOVE THIS VAN.  YES, I'm only 26 years old and I love driving this thing!  Never in a million years did I ever think I would want a van, let alone like it.  BUT I DO!  I love how easy it is to get Hudson in and out.  I love how much trunk space there is.  I love how high up I sit.  I love the Entune Navigation....  I could live in this car.  haha  The carolla was a great little car and served it's purpose for the past 3 years, but it was definitely time.

Hudson likes his new ride too!

For some reason, Hudson has been waking up from naps crying hysterically... I don't know if he is having nightmares or if his teeth (that have still not poked through) are bothering him.  Either way my poor little baby is a hot mess.  I have just been cuddling him and he falls right back to sleep.  I hate to admit it, because he is so miserable at first, but I really enjoy our cuddle time...

These are at night.  Our schedule has been complete off for the past week.  He hasn't been going to bed until almost 10:00pm!  I want him to really tire himself out, because he sleeps better and it is so much easier for him to be put to bed.  Look how tired this little guy was!

How cute is this sleepy baby?!?!

He's not gonna wake up...he is just too tired.
Now that Hudson is completely mobile, he is EVERYWHERE!  He gets into everything:  cabinets, drawers, the fireplace...  I can't take my eyes off this little man for a second.  Now he is not only pulling himself up, but he is letting go and standing all by himself.  He is so fearless too.  That combination means that he has taken some spills and has gotten the first of what I assume will be many bumps and bruises.  :(  It breaks my heart, but no matter how much I try to prevent him from hurting himself (or doing things he just shouldn't), there is absolutely no way I can foresee some of the things he does!  I have a curious baby who isn't afraid of anything!  He is ALL BOY!

Gymboree

I decided to share some adorable pictures (if I do say so myself) of Hudson in his Gymboree class.  His little friend Wyatt goes too.  There are about 6 mommies and babies at each class.  Everyone is so nice and let's be honest, who wouldn't have a good time with 6+ babies crawling around!

To be honest I was a little hesitant about enrolling Hudson in Gymboree.  To me, it seemed silly to put him in any sort of class that cost money when he was so young and at the time couldn't even crawl yet.  Well, I'm eating my words (or thoughts).  This class has been fun for Hudson as well as me.  He and I have both learned a lot.  Hudson has started crawling, can climb, has learned to wave, clap, and high five.  He listens to sounds, and is learning how to socialize with other babies.  I get to talk to other mommies and hear how they are handling certain situations (sleep, teething, feeding...) AND I get to learn all sorts of fun songs and activities to do with Hudson!

At our last class, Hudson was fearless.  He gets better and better every week.  This time he pulled himself up to standing on everything, was more independent (crawled off on his own to explore), went through the tunnel, and didn't even cry when we played with the big colorful parachute!  Another bonus...Hudson is ALWAYS completely worn out and takes a really good nap when we get back home!  AWESOME!  haha

How cute is this picture?!?!  8-9-12

In other news, Hudson ate his very first baby cookie on August 9, 2012.  haha  HUGE MILESTONE right?  I just couldn't help myself.  He is just too darn cute!

nom nom nom... giving it a try.

He likes it!

He ate a few bites before Sadie got it.
