Happy Halloween

It is amazing how different Halloween is this year compared to last year.  Last year, Hudson was a tiny newborn and I was deliriously tired.  I secretly wanted to skip Halloween altogether, but didn't because it was his 1st Halloween...  I honestly can't even remember if we had and or carved pumpkins last year.  This year, Hudson is running around and into everything.  I am tired but from chasing him.  We did get a costume this year and candy (not for Hudson, but for the 5 children that come to our house)!  That's a step in the right direction.  However, Steve and I were talking last night...  we really dropped the ball.  We have a pumpkin, but never carved it.  What is wrong with us?!?!  We are such slacker parents!  O-well.  NEXT year, we WILL take Hudson Trick-Or-Treating and Carve Pumpkins AND make a much bigger deal of Halloween.

After realizing what a bad mom I was/am, I decided to dress Hudson up in his costume and do a mini photo shoot to remember this Halloween!  In my mind, it was all planned out and worked perfectly....  In reality, not so much.  Now that Hudson is walking/running it is nearly impossible to keep him still!  After over an hour of taking pictures, multiple fuzzy shots, and closed eyes...I have a grand total of about five pictures that actually turned out pretty good.  haha Hudson isn't too thrilled with his costume this year.  He HATES the hat, and would rather be naked.

I was so excited that Sadie cooperated long enough to get some pictures too!  She is such  good dog and LOVES Hudson soooo much!  I tried to get Milo our cat in on the action, but he wasn't having any of that.

Now for the outtakes:

Not too sure about the pumpkin, so he pushed it away and...

took off!

A Birthday, A Party, & A Pony Ride

First, I would like to say...

HAPPY BELATED (October 25th) 29th BIRTHDAY

to my wonderful WONDERFUL wonderful husband and best friend.

It is completely unnatural for me to NOT get a card and a gift of some kind for anyone let alone my husband on their birthday!  BUT, Steve kept saying over and over again that the best gift I could give him would be to not spend any money on him ;)  So, I finally did it.  I got my husband absolutely nothing for his birthday.  As much as it pained me, I gave Steve exactly what he wanted... NOTHING!  ugh Hudson and I did pick Steve up for lunch on his birthday.  We ate at Mcalister's Downtown.  That way we got to spend some good quality family time together.  I hope he enjoyed his gift of nothing this year, because next year (THE BIG 30) it will be a different story!!!!

We also helped celebrate another birthday this past weekend.  One of Hudson's very best buds had his 1st birthday party!  It was so much fun!  There was a betting zoo, pony rides, great food, good friends, food, and toys!  haha Hudson was sooooo tired when we finally went home.  He slept soooooo good last night.

Well, hello there!

After Wyatt's Birthday Party, we went over to Steve's parents house to hang out.  Steve's brother and family were in town for the weekend.  As always, it was nice seeing them all.  The boys loved playing with Hudson.  We even had time to play a few rounds of the game Last Word!

O I almost forgot... My sister (Aunt Jessica) was in town this weekend so Hudson and I got to spend some time with her.  She stayed with us Friday and Saturday night, then got up early today to go to Charleston, SC.  We don't get to see each other that much anymore now that she lives in Indiana, but I LOVE all the time we do spend together!

We went to church this morning (we haven't been for a llllooooonnnnngggg time).  It was about time and the message was great.  Then we went to lunch with Steve's family.  While Hudson napped, Steve and I raked  all the leaves in our yard (I am sure ill be feeling that tomorrow).   Now, we are all in the basement (Steve is working, Hudson is playing, and I'm writing this) watching OLD Halloween movies and TV shows.  I would say it's a pretty perfect way to end the weekend.

What a weekend!

It is 8:00pm and I am already in bed!  Does that tell you anything about this past weekend?  We were busy busy busy and the time just few by!

Hudson's new favorite toy!

Friday night we headed to my parents house to spend the weekend with them, and to pick up our dog.  While we were on vacation my parents took care of her for us.  She had fun with them and almost didn't want to come back home...ALMOST!  haha

My parents, Steve, and I took Hudson to Stony Brook Farm where he got to see farm animals, play in the hay, and run around.  I was surprised at how big this place was.  I was just expecting a pumpkin patch, but it was so much more.  Hudson was a little too young to enjoy all he activities available, but he still had so much fun.  There was a little maze made out of hay bales and Hudson loved running through it chasing the bigger kiddos.

My happy little boy playing in the maze of hay.

We went to dinner Saturday night, which I think I have mentioned before is more tricky now that Hudson is older.  He tried my dinner and had his own potato.  All in all, he was so good.  After dinner we went to a few Halloween stores to help Jessica (Aunt Jess) pick out a Halloween costume.

Today we got up and had pumpkin bread and coffee for breakfast!  YUMMMMM  We watched all our old (Jessica and my old childhood) Halloween movies (Raggedy Ann and Andy, The Grinch, The Halloween That Almost Wasn't, Hocus Pocus, Disney's Halloween Treat, and Double Double Toil and Trouble).  Hudson wasn't as interested in the movies as he was all the toys my parents got out of storage for him!  We cooked a today too and had a wonderful lunch before we headed back home.

We are unpacked, fed, and ready for bed!  haha

Hudson, we love you so much!  This weekend we were able to see the world again through fresh eyes.  When you get excited over things we take for granted (running, the feel of grass, seeing a horse or a fire for the first time...), I am amazed and feel like a little kid all over again.  It is amazing seeing the world through the eyes of a child.  You are amazing.
