Milestones: Sleeping and Moving

Hudson and Milo

He loves opening and closing the door on his little house!

So much has happened sense my last post!  We celebrated my very first Mother's Day, Hudson started sleeping in his own room, and he has started moving (not crawling yet).  This little guy never ceases to amaze me!

OK, so for my very first Mother's Day we ventured down South to Nashville, TN to visit my good friend who just graduated from PT School AND spend some time together as a family for my first Mother's Day!  My friend's graduation party was lovely.  We got to hang out and mingle with some old friends as well as meet some new ones.  Of course Hudson was a huge hit!  He was the entertainment!  haha  We stayed at the LOWES Hotel near Vanderbilt campus.  It was beautiful (Steve did a great job making the arrangements).  It was our first little family trip!  Hudson did great!  He is such a good baby!  On our way home we got stuck in some serious traffic.  What should have taken a little over three hours ended up taking eight!  People were getting out of their cars and walking around.  Sadly, the accident that caused the traffic was a fatal one... It's things like that, that really make you thankful for what you have and make you think about how fortunate we are to be safe.  Anyway, even though we sat in non-moving bumper to bumper traffic most of Mother's Day, it ended up being wonderful.  I got to spend ALL DAY with my Husband and baby!  Again, Hudson did so well!  He didn't fuss at all!  This could have been disastrous, but it really wasn't!  The only thing that happened was an explosive diaper that got baby poop all over the car..in a traffic jam...All we could do was laugh!  When we FINALLY got home Steve and Hudson had a surprise for me!  HUDSON'S FOOTPRINTS in cement!  I couldn't have asked for a better gift!

We have been trying to get Hudson to sleep in his room over night for months!  He will take the occasional nap in there, but would always cry and scream all night.  I would end up just bringing him back into our room and putting him in his rock n play sleeper....  Well, last night he started looking so sleepy around 7:00pm so we decided to give it another try.  He went down, woke up twice (I think...10:45pm and 4:30am) but went back to sleep immediately and slept until 8:30am this morning!  AHHHHHH  He did so well!  I am so proud of my cute little Huddy Buddy!  It's so funny because he was in his room sound asleep, but couldn't sleep at all!  I kept listening for him and hearing little noises so I would get up and "check" on him.... He was fine, but I stayed up most of the night.  Hudson is in bed for the night and I'm hoping that he does well again tonight so I can get some needed sleep!

Sweetest picture ever!  May 2012

Our little Hudson is now on the move.  No, he isn't crawling yet (but he's so close).  He is however sitting upright and bouncing on his bottom thrusting his legs out in front of him and pulling himself forward AND Rolling wherever he wants to go!  I will put him in the middle of our living room with his toys and go to the kitchen to clean something and come back a few minutes later and he will be across the room!  From what I have read this is called "creeping".  It's so cute because he has these little balls that he likes to chase.  He gets his knees up and will push off with his feet, but just can't seem to get his belly off the ground so he military crawls like a little worm reaching and grunting the whole way!  haha SOOOO FUNNY!  He is so close.  I can't imagine it will be too much longer before Hudson is off crawling and impossible to catch!

House Crazy

Hello Beautiful!

I don't know about you, but I LOVE looking at houses!  That is why I love TV shows like House Hunters, Property Virgins, Property Brothers, Love it or List it...  I swear HGTV was put on air just for me!  haha  Well, lately I have the itch to look at houses which roughly translates to MOVE.  Poor Steve... he doesn't want to move right now (and I don't blame him) so, he's just trying to weather the storm.  I don't know what has come over me!  Our house is fine.  It is great for what we need right now.  If we're being really honest, we could probably live here the rest of our lives and be fine... BUT a girl can dream can't she?!?!  PS. Pinterest is not helping at all!

Yea, so that's the dream!  haha  We actually looked at a house the other day, and were seriously disappointed....  AND to top it off the realtor who was showing us the home  kept making comments about how "Big" Hudson was!  haha She even called him a chunk!  If you read my previous posts, you know this drives me absolutely CRAZY!  It was just another sign that THAT HOUSE WAS NOT FOR US!  I started ignoring her and just walking away when she made those comments.  It seriously took all of my willpower not to hit her over the head with a rolled up information pamphlet and disclosure form!

*We are NOT moving right now, just seeing what all is out there and keeping all of our options open.

7 months old

May 7, 2012

Seven Months Old Today

I know I say this a lot, but I just can't believe Hudson is 7 months old already.  These monthly posts are really coming faster and faster!  I swear as soon as I had you, everything started going warp speed ahead!

At seven months old you are turning into such a little boy!  My heart is just bursting with love for you!  Here are some of the fun things you are doing at 7 months old!
  • Talking a lot!  I think your Mommy might be your first word.  You love M's so you go around loudly saying:
    • Mmmmmmmmmm
    • Muuuuuuuuuummm
    • MAMAMAMAMAMAMA
    • MOMO
  • You pick up EVERYTHING and put it in your mouth
  • You have tried Puffs, but don't like them
  • You are almost out of size 3 diapers and on to size 4
  • Six month clothes are completely out!  Now you are wearing 9-12 month clothes.  Your 9 month footed pajamas are getting really snug.
  • You are strong!  You can sit all by yourself and can stand as long as someone can help you balance.
  • You are semi mobile!  To get around you either roll or you bounce up and down scooting on your little bottom.
  • In the mornings, when you wake up, you "talk and talk".  LOVE IT
  • You love feet!  You catch your own feet and think it is so fun.  You also like to pounce on other peoples feet.
  • Recently, you stopped eating fruits... I don't know why, but you refuse to open your mouth!  Veggies you will eat happily, but fruit NOT A CHANCE!  We keep trying though.
  • You are STILL sleeping in our room... We keep trying to put you to bed in your own room, but every time we try you end up back in our room by midnight.  We will keep trying though!  :)
  • Napping is out the window.  Some days you take two good naps, but lately you are just taking 15-20 minute cat naps throughout the day.
  • You have started going to bed earlier (between 8-9pm) and staying there until 5 or 6.
  • You love our dog Sadie to lick you!  Whenever you see her your face lights up and you put your hand out so she will lick it!  THEN YOU LAUGH!
  • You are constantly reaching for Milo... He doesn't like you so much yet.  He tries to keep a safe distance, but if you get too close, he swats at your little grabby hands!
  • Your daddy makes you laugh more than anyone!  You think he is the funniest person in the whole world!  All he has to do is walk in the room and you go crazy!  So sweet!  He is definitely your playmate!
  • I am your comforter.  When you are upset, I can usually get you to calm down immediately.  I'm like the baby whisperer for you!
  • You LOVE bath time!
  • You are no longer using your  car seat/carrier!  You are in your big boy car seat... and aren't a fan!  It is just really hard for you to get comfortable.
  • At night you have started rolling on to your tummy... It scares me to death when I find you face down in your mattress, you are ALWASY fine.  It's just me that has a BIG problem with it.  I flip you back over usually waking you up in the process (sorry love bug).
  • No no longer like gumdrop pacifiers (they are all one piece).  Now you like AVENT and MAM.
  • You lunge for things that are out of reach, even if it means you flop on your belly.
Sleepy Hudson on his 7 month Birthday
So, that's that!  You in a nutshell at seven months! Every day you amaze me more and more.  Your little personality is really showing.  You have definite likes and dislikes and aren't afraid to let us know!   You are such an easygoing laid back baby!  As your parents we are so lucky and couldn't have asked for a better baby.  haha  Your daddy and I love you so much!  Daddy is just smitten with you and finds you so amusing.  Have I told you that already?!?!  I just think there is nothing more special than the bond between a daddy and his son.  It makes me so happy to see you both laughing at each other for no reason.

Me (mommy), Hudson, and Aunt Jessica
Your Aunt Jessica (who doesn't like kids) LOVES you!  She is so good with you.  Hudson, you think your Aunt Jessica is hilarious!  When we were at Grandma and Grandpa's house last week, every time you did something you thought was fun or funny, you looked to Jess to see what her reaction would be.  If she laughed at you, then you would laugh.  If she did laugh, you moved on to something else!  SO FUNNY!

Your grandparents (both sets) love you so much too (but you already knew that)!  It never ceases to amaze me how so many people can care so much about one tiny baby!  Are you starting to see a trend?  EVERYBODY LOVES YOU HUDDY BUDDY!

Happy Seven Month Birthday Hudson Michael Farmer!

A Week At Grandma & Grandpa's House

Grandpa and Hudson

Grandma and Hudson

This past week my dad had to go out of town on a business trip. So....  Hudson and I, along with my sister Jessica, headed home to spend the week with my mom!  Usually we only get to visit for a day or two, so this was a real treat!  There is just something so nice and comforting about going home.  I love the town and house where I grew up.  When I was younger I really took it for granted.  Little did I know that when I grew up I would miss it like crazy and secretly hope to one day move back to raise my babies there.  It's beautiful, there is really a lot to do, great restaurants, awesome school system, close to a big city...I could go on and on.  Even if we don't make our way back to my hometown, I hope that sometime in the near future we will at least be closer.

Anyway, we arrived Sunday evening and will be leaving tomorrow.  As I write this, Hudson is sleeping next to me.  He has had so much fun playing this week he has completely worn himself out!  My mom got out some of Jessica and my old baby toys for Huddy Buddy to play with.  He LOVED them!  They really don't make toys like they use to.  Hudson played with BIG alphabet blocks, a plastic pot filled with different shaped blocks.  All these "new" toys made him so happy!

Too big for mommy's old walker!

Hudson really found his voice this week too.  He has been happily screaming and squealing for a long time now, but about three days ago Hudson started growing/screaming in frustration and anger.  Mom says he is spoiled because he will pout and scream then immediately stop when he gets what he wants! haha  All he usually wants is more attention (if it is even possible to give more).  I think it's really funny.  He is only 6 months old, so of course I'm going to give in to his demands!

My dad got home today after flying all night.  He had to work though, so mom, Jess, Hudson, and I decided to take Hudson to the zoo for the very first time.  It was so nice out!  There weren't many people there so there it wasn't crowded at all!  Amazingly, ALL and I mean ALL of the animals were out.  We got to see all the bears they were right out in the middle of their sanctuary laying in the sun.  The tigers were standing right by the glass wall staring at us.  It was AMAZING!  I was honestly a little nervous...  haha  They are HUGE!  We also got the pleasure of seeing both the male and female lions up close and personal!  The lion even roared for us!  I have never been to the zoo when all the animals were out and easy to spot!  Hudson liked the monkeys they were so funny!  We also got to see giraffes, cheetahs, lizards, elephants (a baby elephant too), bats, turtles, and much more!  All in all Hudson seemed to enjoy himself.  He was a little too young to know what was going on, but he liked watching everything and listening to the noises.  Lets face it Mom, Jess, and I really wanted to go and WE had a BLAST!

We had so much fun at the zoo 5-3-12

I'm so bummed to be leaving tomorrow, but ready to be home with Steve.  Hudson and I both have missed "daddy" while we have been gone.  Well, Hudson has woken up from his late afternoon nap, so I must tend to him.  It's bath time!
