When God closes a door...

I was right.  The deal on our house completely fell apart.  Remember the unreasonable and demanding buyer?  Well, we ended up agreeing to do absolutely everything (even cutting a hole in our ceiling so she could see what was behind the drywall....) because her realtor explained again that she was a single mom with not enough money or time to take care of these issues herself.  First of all, I think being a single mom would be the most difficult "job" in the world.  I completely respect anyone (man or woman) who is parenting a child or children on their own.  Second, I don't care who you are, if you can't afford it, don't buy it.  It isn't our fault that she was trying to purchase a house that she really couldn't afford to take care of....I digress.  So even after we accepted the terms and demands of her contract, we were receiving threatening requests for example, if we didn't allow a friend of the buyer to come over to look at the house, she wouldn't purchase the house.  Well that was a red flag right here.  More demands.

I immediately called our realtor and ended everything.  Steve and I had been up really late the night before talking about the whole situation and how everything just felt wrong.  We were being bullied and didn't like it.  So I know he would completely agree with my quick decision to terminate the contract with that woman.

Our house wen't back on the market that same afternoon (Friday).  We decided to have an open house on Sunday and our realtors had begin putting out all the information.  To our surprise, we received an offer on the house Saturday from, believe it or not, the same woman who put an offer on our house immediately after we listed it the first time!!!  Apparently she really liked our house and wanted to purchase it.  The first time around, we just couldn't come to an agreement on price and then another offer came in and we took it.  Well, this time, the offer was much stronger and we were able to come to an agreement within a few hours.  By Saturday night at 10:00pm all the paperwork had been signed and we had sold our house for the second time in 3 weeks.  haha  Our open house was canceled for Sunday.  No need to have it now I guess.  It really is amazing how things work out sometimes.

Everything happens for a reason.

We are really hoping that this is it and we can seal the deal here in a few weeks  :)

We are still going to go ahead and fix some of the things that were on the first inspection report, because we feel anyone would ask for these same things.  Hopefully we can get it taken care of before the new inspection must be done.

As for the house we want to purchase... We are still in the middle of negotiating repairs for that house.  We started with a list of 5 requests and 2 questions/clarifications.  After going back and forth we have cut the list down to 1, but it's a big one, replacing a big palladium window that has rotted out.  The sellers have asked for an extension until Wednesday so they could get a window guy out to look at it and give them an price estimate.   I seriously doubt they will replace it, or pay for the entire replacement, but that's alright.  As long as they are willing to contribute a fair amount toward that one item, we will find a way to make it work.  We will see.  Steve likes the house so much I think he would/we will take what we can get and run with it.  haha  He really does love this house and will do just about anything to get it.  :)  I never in a million years thought I would say that about Steve and and a house!

In other news, Steve's family was in town this weekend.  It was fun.  We went to eat at a new restaurant here in town.  They had a huge fish tank in the very center that was full of jellyfish.  Hudson loved watching them float around.  He kept calling them "bubbles".  I guess they do kind of look like bubbles.  haha  Hudson loved playing with his cousins.  It was such a fun weekend.  Now it's Sunday afternoon.  We have started packing, did laundry, met family for lunch, and have all taken a nap (I'm the only one awake here right now).  Hudson didn't go to bed until after 9 last night because he was having so much fun.  He is out cold and is taking a very long nap today.  When everyone is up, we will take a family walk for some fresh air.  We might even take Hudson to the park to run around for a while.  As for Steve, I think all the stresses about the house over the past few days + work have really taken a toll on him.  He has been pretty exhausted this whole weekend.  Bless his heart.

And I am sick...Again.   I think the worst feeling is having a sore throat.  Especially one where you can't get any relief, not even in your sleep because it hurts so much.  It doesn't just hurt in my throat either, but my ears hurt too.  It might be sinus/allergy related... who knows.  All I know is I'm ready to be healthy again.   I have been popping throat lozenges for the past 24 hours and spraying it was Chloraseptic.  Hopefully by tomorrow I will be 100% back to normal.

Let's hope this week is much much better than last week!!!

God is and has always been in complete control!

  2. I am sooo glad to hear that things have worked out with the house!!!! It really is God's way of saying there was something (and someone) better out there for your house! I'm glad you didn't give in to being bullied! Way to stand your ground and good luck with your house hunt and hopefully the sellers will contribute a good chunk of change to repair the window!
